Well, Michael had a TON of hair when he was first born. Then it started to go away and then, it grew in a lot lighter and thinner. Sorry baby, looks like you have hair like Mommy. Anyway, I wanted to try to get his hair cut before his first birthday party, but DeAnn (the best and sweetest stylist I know) and I could not get our schedules together! So FINALLY, July 21, 2010, one day before Michael turned 13 months, we got together and she cut his hair. He was so sweet and didn’t fuss. He just sat in Mommy’s lap while she worked her magic. And after a few moments, my little baby looked like a little boy! Bye bye mullet hair and baby face, hello little man. So sweet and so sad. When did he grow up? Either way, he looks so sweet and finally has a hair style. Thanks DeAnn!

Michael’s Lovey
Okay, so I knew that Michael would eventually become attached to one of his toys or blankets and carry it with him everywhere. What I did not plan on was him falling in love with his little blue cement truck. Actually, it is a block of wood that is shaped like and painted like a cement truck. Michael adores this truck and gets pretty frustrated when it is taken away. He crawls with it, walks with it, sleeps with it, tries to bathe with it, and holds it while he eats. I can occasionally grab it if he is preoccupied with the bath water or food but other than that, he is attached. I take it out of his crib so that he doesn’t roll over on it at night. It is so crazy that he loves his truck! So thank you to Michael’s sweet teachers in Infant I, it was the best Christmas present ever! All the toys, all the sweet little snuggly things I bought him and he wants this truck. Oh how I love my little man. I guess boys will be boys!

Zoo Days
Well, it has been SO very long now since I have updated the blog. I just haven’t found time to sit in front of the computer for a while. BUT, no worries, we have a lot to catch up on so stay tuned!
One of my favorite things to do is go to the zoo. I even convince Derin to take me for my birthday sometimes. So, the minute school got out, I told Derin we have to get Michael to the zoo! Well, first we went shopping for some new toys and then off to see the animals. First of all, living in Texas all of my life should have prepared me for how hot it was going to be in June! Nevertheless, we went anyway. Michael was a trooper the whole time but he didn’t want to be in his stroller so we took turns carrying him around. He liked the birds and the Africa Live exhibit where the hippos were swimming around. It was in the AC so that was our favorite part too! Of course the moment we walk inside and Michael realized how quiet it was, he had to start squealing. Thank goodness people think it is adorable.
The rest of the day was kind of a wash because the animals knew it was too hot to stand outside so most of them were hiding somewhere in the shade. So now I know, next time I want to go to the zoo, it will be in March! That’s okay, I can’t wait to take Michael again, everything is so much more fun when you experience it through his eyes.
