Two Months Already

I can't believe that two months have passed since we brought Michael home. One one hand I feel as though he has always been here and then I think that the time has flown by. We had a low key day, we woke up around 5:30 for breakfast and then it was time for Michael to take his nap on me while I caught up on some reading. Aunt Lulu and Uncle Craig came over and we baked cup cakes for Michael. Then it was time for some FSN football bowl classics. Of course Michael slept through most of it but he finally woke up as Mommy and Daddy were getting ready for bed. He kept smiling around midnight but everytime I would take the picture of him smiling he would make this crazy face at the camera. He'll get used to it in no time.

One Month Old - A Month Ago

Well, Michael will be two months old this weekend but I am just now posting pictures from his one month birthday. We went shopping and searching for a big box of diapers. What a day. Needless to say he wasn't quite awake the whole day and he slept through his cake but I will always remember his first shopping trip. I was nervous about people being around him and sneezing etc. I worried about him getting too hot or being too cold in the stores and then I was trying to wake him up so he would eat. I wonder if I will ever calm down? He is much stronger than I think, I have to remember you won't break the baby! So enjoy his one month pics and this weekend we can see his two month pics. He has grown, I don't know where his gets his long torso from, maybe he will be tall!

What's in a Name?

In all the frenzy I never posted how we chose Michael's name. First of all I can remember that the weekend we found out we were pregnant we went to Barnes and Noble to sip on Starbucks and browse through baby name books. It was so much fun, dreaming about if we would have a boy or a girl. It was decided before we were pregnant that if we had a son his name would be Michael Dean. Michael is for Derin's father and Dean is for Derin's grandfather. What better way to honor someone you love? As a teacher it is difficult to find names that don't remind you of students that were, well lets say a challange. Anyway, I know Michael will make his grandfather and great grandfather proud as they watch him grow up from heaven. I hope he has Mike's kind heart and that he has Dean's ambition. I do know one thing, he has my dimple when he smiles!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Is Ballgame all one word? Well last night we finally had the chance to go and watch Derin play softball. We have been waiting because the weather has been so hot but thanks to a cool breeze it only felt like it was 99 degrees last night. Either way it was some fun time with Mama Lu, Aunt Lulu and Uncle Craig. While he had no idea what was going on, he sure did look cute in the baseball outfit Nana and PawPaw bought! I love the little baseball on the bottom!! While most of the women there went to watch their husbands play, Michael stole their attention. Of course, just look at that baby! Daddy won both games so afterwards we all went to DQ for blizzards! Any reason is a good reason for icecream right?
